ABOUT ROSE LADIES GOLF

Personally financing the events to increase playing opportunities for females as tournament golf returned from the COVID-19 break, and overall, to grow the visibility of ladies’ golfRose Ladies Golf was founded by Justin and Kate Rose in 2020, as their response to the disruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

During this time there were many sports events canceled or postponed, once events were able to commence once again it became apparent that men’s competitions found ways to resume far quicker as women’s events faced longer delays and more challenges.

By understanding the lack of opportunities and their own desire to support female golfers, Justin and Kate created the series to provide a platform for Ladies’ Professional Golf to remain competitive by personally financing the tournament at the start, to maintain the women’s game throughout the pandemic and build visibility of Ladies Golf.

RLG: THE EVOLUTION

2020: The Beginning

At its launch in June 2020, the Rose Ladies Series began as 8 one-day tournaments, each with a £5k prize fund across England. Although it began with modest ambitions, the series quickly gained attention for its positive impact on women’s golf, attracting top British players like Charley Hull and Georgia Hall. With its growth came sponsors, aiding in the development of the events and thus the contributions to the prize fund.

2021: The Expansion

Following the success of the previous year, the series continued with 11 events, each with a £10k prize fund, which remains the biggest prize fund for one-day competitions in Britain, regardless of gender. It began attracting a wider audience, with more media coverage, further boosting the profile of women’s golf in the UK. The series provided Ladies’ golf with crucial competitive opportunities at a point where many international sporting events were still disrupted.

2022: The Introduction of The Rose Ladies Open

With the LET & LETAS schedules returning to strength, the Rose Ladies Series became a condensed series of 5 events in April/early May, acting as a great warm-up for the professionals. Kate and Justin created the Rose Ladies Open in 2022 to continue supporting and growing the women’s game. The RLO is a 54-hole tournament on the LET Access Tour, the development tour for the Ladies European Tour (the RLO has always been an LET Access event). It also has the largest prize fund on the LET Access Tour. The tournament solidified the Roses’ commitment to supporting women’s golf, offering a platform that continued to raise the sport’s profile, with the highlights being shown on Sky Sports Golf, including this year’s 2024 event which once again took place at the beloved Brocket Hall.

The Rose Ladies Series, along with the Rose Ladies Open, has become a key fixture in the women’s golf calendar. The success of the series and the Open have even led to the RLO becoming an LET Access event!

Rose Ladies Golf has become a powerful symbol of progress and lasting dedication to advancing women’s golf, with Justin and Kate Rose’s vision continuing to inspire increased support for female athletes. Euroselect Golf Stores are proud to support such an important purpose, helping to drive the growth and recognition of women’s golf.
